I was looking at the SAQ Quebec liquor stores online site as compared to the LCBO stores in Ontario and the SAQ has a lot more unique single malt expressions.
Just a few listed here but interesting that they carry such malts:
They have the following single malts at the SAQ that they don't have in Ontario among others:
Auchentoshan 21 Year for $199. CDN
Benrinnes 23 Years 58.8 abv for $406 CDN
Old Pulteney 40 Year 51.3% abv for $4, 495 CDN.
Pittyvaich 20 Year 57.5%abv for $405.75 CDN.
Glenfarclas 21 year for 129. CDN
Glenrothes Sherry Cask Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky 40%abv for $100. CDN.
Old Particular Macallan Speyside Scotch Single Malt 21 Year 51.5abv at $484 CDN.
(I've never heard of this one). I am told it is a Douglas Laing.
BenRiach, Authenticus 25 Years Old 46%abv for $349 CDN.
And many more actually....Any thoughts?
I have family in Montreal so on next trip when ever that is will have a look see.... _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I have checked out the SAQ many times and they have some great offerings. I still haven't been to pick any up but should make a trip soon.
Have you checked out the Manitoba Liquor Mart? Also some different products and some decent pricing as well. I picked up a bottle of Highland Park 25 for $370, same bottle here in Ontario sells for over $600. I also grabbed a Ledaig 10 and a Balblair 2002/3. Good stuff. |

Interesting. I picked up my first bottle of Glenfarclas 105 when I was visiting Montreal a couple of years ago at a decent price at the SAQ. Also, the SAQ outlets offer many samples of single malts. When I was there the last time, the fellow opened a special cupboard with about 15 different single malts and asked if I would like to try some. My brother was driving. You don't get that at the LCBO. In fact, i have never been offered a sample at the LCBO. I'll take a look at the Manitoba site you mention. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| You know I have to second the toshan 21.. The Glenfarclas is ok but it lacks something, I would pick the 15 over it any day.now if it was a single barrel family cask well that would be different .. |

It's interesting that they carry the toshan 21 in Quebec but not in Ontario. Next time I'm down visiting the family I'll check it out and maybe even try a sample there as they are more accommodating at the SAQ in that way. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Man, if you think the SAQ has some decent stuff. Check out the Kensington Wine market in Calgary.
You wouldn't believe what they offer. |
