Yesterday I was at the TWE Whisky Show in London which was a great day, here is what I tried -
Dalmore 15, 21 & King Alexander
Jura 21
Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
Balblair 99
Old Pulteney 17
Ancnoc 12
Kilchoman 100% Islay
Bunnahabhain 18
Dalwhinnie Winters Gold
Oban Little Bay
Brora 35
Mortlach 25
Lagavulin Jazz Festival 2015
Glenfarclas 25
Glenfiddich The Original
Glenmorangie 18 & Signet
The highlight of the day was talking to and having a dram with Dalmore master distiller Richard 'The Nose' Patterson' there were plenty more for me to try but just couldn't do it and I'm in no rush for my next dram - maybe
Kind Regards

| The TWE whisky show is a fantastic event, I have been a couple of times in the past, Always a great choice of premium drams to taste. The cost of travel, accommodation, tickets, food etc puts me off going more often as it easily adds up to £300 - £400 for me which I can spend on a few good bottles instead but no doubt I will be there again in the near future. |

| I know what you mean Crane, it is a fantastic event but an expensive trip down to London, especially when the Mrs wants to accompany you, go shopping and take in a show. |

That's correct, you show you ticket, they give you a glass and you walk around the stands and fill your boots while talking to people from the distilleries.

Sounds like you had a great time John. I too very much enjoyed the Mortlach 25 at a tasting with Georgie Bell and I would have been quite motivated to have the Brora 35 if i had been at your show. I was at a pub in Toronto a few years back and ordered Brora 30 from their menu but the bottle had just been finished. I had a 22 year old rare Port Ellen instead. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Whisky shows are always great places to meet people and try some interesting drams.
I've been at TWE show only once but IMO is becoming too big/industrialized. I prefer smaller venues, where you have more opportunities to talk with producers and sales people. My favourite among "bigger"? shows is Whisky Fringe in Edinburg but the best are the local ones. |

I Have heard that the Whisky Fringe is supposed to be fantastic. They put Glenglassaugh 30 Year Old 2nd what caused a bit of upset, but have heard good things from it.
So is everything included in the ticket cost? or do you have to buy drams when your there like a beer festival. |

I've only been to one - but generally you pay your ticket and sample drams from all different exhibitors. I was lucky I got a Groupon deal for £28 for a Whisky Lounge Event and now everything seems so expensive. That said, IIRC there was a VIP section that was another tenner.
I'm thinking of going to Rumfest next week and the ticket prices are putting me off. That and the premium stuff you need to buy tokens for (at a fiver a pop) and then shell out even more. If that is what is happening for rum, I'm pretty sure that will be happening for whisky events. |

All bigger events are becoming similar - for all older/rare drams you will soon have to pay with additional tokens only. Organisers are trying to get as much from you as they possibly can.
It's funny watching people posting about their "conquers"? at the whisky shows - many are going to this kind of events just to brag about trying some older expressions, some to get pished: |

This is the 5th time I have attended The Whisky Exchange Show in London, I bought an Early Bird Weekend Ticket some time ago £145 to cover entry into the show for the 2 days Saturday and Sunday (11.30am-6.30pm last pour 6.10pm)
The cost covers all whiskies available except the Dream Drams, these can be purchased with Dream Dram tokens available at £10 each, some require 3 tokens, one is given to you on arrival and is included in the price, you also get a two course meal included each day and plenty of water is available.
I have enjoyed each show and meet up with friends old and new every time, if you can only go for one day I would recommend the Sunday as there are fewer people attending and it is more relaxed, the only problem with going on the Sunday is some of the Dream Drams run out in the first day as some exhibitors only bring one bottle !
Over the two days I tried the following, not a full list but the highlights for me, most of which I would never be able to try but for the show, I agree with earlier comments from Diademo about those showing off about their conquests but submit this list for those interested in going just to show what is available at this particular show, I have only seen one drunk at these shows and he was helped on his way by the attentive staff in a very professional manor.
I have also found most exhibitors very friendly and helpful arranging distillery trips etc and in some cases not even asking for a token for there dream drams..
Glenlivet 33 38 and 40yr olds
Royal Salute 38
Ardbeg 25
Brora 35
Caol Lla 30
Glenfarclas 1956 and 1982
AnCnoc 1975
Balblair 1983
Old Paultney 35
Tobermory 40
Port Askaig 19 30 and 45yr old
Mosstowie 1979 35 yr old
Hope the above helps in encouraging you to attend next year, I will be there. |

Very nice lineup minesascotch. You certainly had some fine and classy drams. Great to hear.
