There are roughly 105 different distilleries in Scotland that produce malt whisky and approximately 36 former (closed or demolished) malt whisky distilleries in Scotland. How many of these approx. 141 distilleries have you had at least a dram from either from your own bottle or a sample or at a tasting?
Based on this format, I believe I have tried drams from 54 different Scottish distilleries that produce or produced scotch malt whisky.
How about you? _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Hmmm, according to my poorly kept records; 42. That includes some single grain too though. I'm sure I've had drams from others in various pubs but generally I don't tend to remember said evenings......
maybe I need to reassess some of my future purchase, I thought it was more than that. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

Out of the currently producing distilleries I have tried most that have been in production for more than 5 years. I haven't yet tried most of the very new ones mainly because they haven't released any whisky yet such as Ailsa Bay, Roseisle and a few of the smaller ones such as Daftmill.
Never had the chance to taste a few of the now closed distilleries such as Glen Esk,, Glenlochy, Banff and probably quite a few more |

| I have never kept counted but I would say in excess of 100. I used to pursue whiskies from different distilleries but these days I stick to what I think is good. It was always interesting to taste a whisky from a closed distillery but that is an expensive thing to do now days |

| When I first stepped up from blends to single malts I sought out many of the lesser known distilleries, often it was just a miniature from companies like Gordon & MacPhail, I didn't keep records but I have had many, must be around 100 |

| I rarely venture far away from my favorite distilleries these days but I have experienced a lot in my time but never kept count |

Murray..
I too am guilty of not keeping count, until the last few years I never intended to be so involved with whisky, I never kept any records or tasting notes, so at a quick count I would estimate about 55-60, this includes some closed distilleries and some liquid from newer ones like kingsbarns, good topic !! |

| I'm fairly lucky in that I've set up a number of bars including a couple of pretty successful whisky bars. I worked in the whisky industry and my best man is a distilling expert who designs stills and their products. This means I've been lucky enough to try something from most Scottish distilleries and scores of international ones. I reckon, though not certain, I've tried around 3000-3500 different whiskies in total. |

36 so far, of distinct Scottish distilleries. multiple expressions from many of those.
Not bad for only 2 years at it. _________________ Slainte |

Wow - have never thought of it like that before. Making me question my numbers! |

| Checked my tasting notes (thanks god for Excel). Tasted juice from 94 different places (just distilleries in Scotland; malts, no grains). All together probably over 100 but if is not in my Black little book(s), it's never happened: |
