The Balvenie fans amongst you will be pleased to hear that the distillery has unveiled the Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch 2. Created once again by The Balvenie's long serving Malt Master David Stewart.
Batch 2 is a selection of 32 casks - 23 traditional American oak casks and 9 European oak sherry casks. Bottled at 50.3% and non-chill filtered, the second batch of Tun 1509 will start appearing on shelves around the world from July 2015 at an RRP of £250

What was the rrp of batch 1?
I missed this first time round and may grab a couple of bottles if I get the chance. |

That's a fair point. They've increased the size of the tun substantially but judging by the reception of the previous bottles they won't last long and double in price on the secondary market. So I'd like a couple for the collection as I wasn't in a position to afford the 1401 albeit this was a far more limited edition. |

8,000 worldwide with only 643 in the UK. Think there was 12,000 of batch 1 if I remember correctly. |

I'm not entirely sure about that. I just looked up the auction results for Batch #1 and it's been selling recently for less than the RRP of 225... |

Just out of curiosity, how do they justify the RRP of 225 or 250?
How old are the casks going into the tun? |

They justify the price by the fact it sells out...
I can't remember the average age, we were told but memory fails me, so did my notes 😔, I'm pretty sure it's not a young whisky, the tun is pretty impressive, I wouldn't mind leaning over the edge for a sip or two ... |
