Hi there,
I picked up an old bottle of Glenfiddich from a house clearance auction in Elgin a couple of months back and have been unable to find much information about it. Really I'd like to know the bottling decade. I put it into an auction with a high reserve hoping to find out some information (or sell it to a wealthy Glenfiddich collector!) but that didn't work. I've also approached Glenfiddich (via email and their global brand ambassador) but no luck there either. Can't find the bottle on Whiskybase, etc etc.
Does anyone here have any knowledge of this bottle? The closest I can find is on whisky exchange but it is not identical. They reckon 1930's.

Here's a link to the auction site as it seems like an easy way to post the image.

Thanks in advance. I've been a regular reader of this forum and have decided to join, is quite an interesting place. Cheers, John.[/img] |

Hi john, welcome to the forum, sorry but I can't help much other than try Glenfiddich again, or contact one of the big auction sites, good luck,

Is your primary motive to sell or get information?

Get information, if someone somewhere offered me stupid money for it then I'd sell, but I'm a collector (and mostly a drinker!) so am quite intrigued by it.

The triangular bottle was originally designed for William Grant & Sons in 1956 by Hans Schleger. The bottle was adopted for use with Glenfiddich Straight Malt for its launch in 1961. So your bottle is probably the 1950s or earlier, it is difficult to give an exact date as the bottle and label didn't change very often in the early years.
