Blind Taste Test - A Real Eye-Opener!

How many of you have done a blind taste test with single malts?
Were you able to identify them all?
Perhaps I am not experienced enough, but I do know what I like.
I just had my wife serve me three well known, highly esteemed single malts, ranging in price from moderate to high . . . . and I was very surprised with my choices.
Price can certainly influence your perception of things, and this may just save me a ton of money. I actually preferred the least expensive of the three. Anyone?

Blind tasting a whisky I have never tasted before has thrown up some pleasant surprises for me in the past but in general what I have in the cupboard I would recognise so no point in me tasting them blind. My son once tested me by pouring random whiskies from my collection and asking me to identify them by tasting them blind and without fail I was able to identify them all, many simply by nosing them.

I have experienced blind taste testing a few times and have to say I was pretty good in identifying the drams. However, I prefer to know what I'm dramming for a fuller experience.

I too have attended a few blind tastings, I was able to pick about 35% out correctly.. It was a little easier picking the area ( speyside, lowland and of course islay ) I have also run a couple of blind tastings and it's surprising what results you get, those that dislike lowlands pick them as great and same with islay malts... Expensive malts disliked over younger cheaper malts... Maybe bottles should be sold with no labels.. Pot luck as they say..
