Good morning, I've just joined as I'm looking for some advice on selling a bottle of Single Malt Oban Whisky, distilled in March 1963 and bottled July 1984. Apologies if this question is in the wrong forum.

The sale of this bottle should be fairly straight forward but, the seal on the lid has in parts been broken, not all have. The lid has obviously never been removed as some of the seal is intact still.

So really my question is will this affect the potential sale or am I worrying about nothing?

Possibly, the condition of the bottle and label are taken into consideration when valuing a whisky. If it is still 100% clear the bottom has never been open then it should still sell ok but the condition could effect the selling price, just depends on the buyer/bidders.

Thank you for your reply. The rest of the bottle is in good condition, the box is not too bad either apart from the clear plastic which is coming away from the box.

Where is the best place to sell? I've Googled and see there are a couple of places that will give valuations.

Valuations from a shop etc, will probably be half the true value as they have to make their cut, best bet would be an online whisky auction, let the masses decide the true value...
