Anybody tried buffalo trace?? Is it a good place to start???

It's pretty good for a general bourbon, most people will buy it to mix as they do with JD or Bulleit.

Personally, in terms of flavour, complexity and value for money the Four Roses Small Batch is much better, but that's me.

You can also usually pick up Woodford Reserve for around the same price as BT in supermarkets as it comes on offer fairly often. This is quite sweet, maybe a bit too much so for a Scotch drinkers palate, but it's also better than BT (in my opinion).

I agree with these two points. I haven't tasted anything I like that is cheaper than Buffalo Trace. Four Roses Single Barrel and small batch are my favorite bourbons, I prefer single malts. I don't remember tasting Woodford.

Evan Williams and Elijah Craig small batches are brilliant places to start that are reasonably priced too.

Buffalo trace doing the rounds at £20 in asda so as a change i thought it would be worth a go

Ralfy and Jason Pyle each posted reviews on YouTube, both are worth watching.
Elijah Craig is very nice and well priced, $25 over here.
