Cheap for a peaty whisky, worth a try at that price. Unfortunately there are no Morrison stores in Northern Ireland, hopefully one of the other big supermarkets get stock of it.

Didn't even know there was a peated Glen Moray, worth a go at that price. By the way the Glen Moray Classic is currently on offer at Sainsbury's for £18.

I recall tasting some Glen Moray peated spirit just over 2 years ago, it was cask strength and as i said it was spirit, not yet whisky. I believe they start making some peated spirit back in 2010 so the new Glen Moray Peated will be no more than 5 year old but this can be a good thing for a peaty whisky, just look at Kilchoman.

What i tasted back in 2012 certainly showed some good promise, plenty of peat smoke, creamy vanilla, citrus and salted butter. Although they have only bottled the new Glen Moray Peated at 40% it will be interesting to see how it has developed.

I remember they released some 20cl sample bottles at the end of 2012, it was young and spirity, had quite a punch at cask strength but you could taste that there was a good portion of peat in it. Hard to say what a few more years in the cask would have done and how much it will have been tamed reducing it down to 40%. At £23 is is worth a try.

Found this at my local Morrisons yesterday (much to my surprise because they are usually backwards in coming forwards) and tried it tonight - WOW! Although I'm sure it will get reduced to sub £20 in the future, for £24 it's quite an amazing peat-fest. Admittedly, I was half-cut before I tried it but I still needed a dash of water to love its high notes, and low notes, and bits in between. The 2nd draft I had at the full 40% and it was heady, delicious peat with Speyside loveiness as an undercurrent. Generally I'm more fussy when I'm lashed but this youthful dram had me both coming and going.....to bed in about 5 minutes.
