The Glenmorangie Company is set to build a new multi-million pound headquarters and bottling plant in Livivingston in the Lothians.
The company has agreed to buy an 11-acre site in Livingston, and is due to submit a planning application to West Lothian Council.
The company is also looking for new offices in Edinburgh, as part of its £45 million expansion programme.Company. The expansion programme also includes an increase in output at the Tain distillery.
All great news for the whisky industry and Scottish jobs in the current economic climate.
John that is good news for the industry and jobs. Latest figures i have seen seem to say that whisky sales are starting to be effected by the world economic downturn but hopefully sales will not drop to much and i do not see why whisky will not come out of this recession as popular in the new developing markets as it was when the recession started.
That is good news for the workers at the Broxburn plant as Livingston is not too far from Broxburn so the current Glenmo workers at Broxburn should be able to retain their jobs and i would guess this new location was a major consideration as it enables Glenmo to retain its trained workforce and with it being an expansion it should create more jobs.
