Had the chance to sample the new glenlivet founders reserve today my thoughts are..

Nose... Fruity and fresh, plums, apples, vanilla, a little woody but it draws you in to take a sip, a little spicy note tries to jump in and say hi...

Taste .. Very creamy at first, makes you lick your lips, sweet fruit sugars, oranges, lots of Apple, apple pie, yum yum... Toffee apples and vanilla..

Finish... It stays on the lips for a while, very creamy but does not overpower but a lovely subtle finish..

It's a bold move if this is to replace the 12yo, but I can see where they are going with this, it a good every day go to dram, easy to drink, and like any good whisky it makes you want more, " please sir can I have some more " .. Looks like a bottle to put on the buying list..

Hi Sorren. Sounds like a positive review on your part. Your characterization of the finish is particularly appealing.

I certainly think its a positive move, I can't wait to actually get a full bottle, it's a bottle that just sits in the everyday bottle price tag ( for most of us normal folk ) I can see it becoming a favourite of many, although it's more expensive than the 12 its a good replacement if that's its future..

Yes, sounds worth a try and no doubt it will be found on offer in the big supermarkets from time to time.

I got the impression it's already in the whisky shop and will be in other shops in March ( not sure what date ) I'm sure the price in the whisky shop was £35 ish, can't remember exact price sorry... But I still thought it was worth the ticket..

It clearly appears that both the Glenlivet 12 and the Founder's Reserve will both be available in Canada-"The Glenlivet Canadian brand manager Taryn Denman confirmed that both versions will be available in Canada." Release date here not known yet for the FR.

It should be in Asda stores soon as they reduced the 12 year old to £20 and sold it off.

That does not mean they will sell it .. They never put the 15 single barrel sherry cask in their stores after the 15 single barrel ( bourbon ) was discontinued..

True but Asda sold the Balvenie 15 single barrel for £42 and the 15 single barrel sherry cask is around £75 which is perhaps a bit too much for Asda's shelves.

Just has a sample of this, very impressed. A good example of how to replace your entry level with NAS. Glenlivet have put some thought into the makeup of this and it shows in the end product, one I'd be happy to purchase on a regular basis.
