18th Anniversary Whisky Experience Attended by Murray

I had the great pleasure of being invited on April 10th (last night) to The Scottish Craftmen's Association special scotch tasting and dinner entitled "Our Eighteenth Anniversary Whisky Experience" with 80 guests in attendance. This was my first experience at this event. The evening also included entertainment with bagpipes and Highland dancing. Each year this dedicated and enthusiastic group puts on a tasting and dinner with very special drams and this night was no different. In fact, the convenor felt that the single malt scotch line-up this night was among their best though it is clear from their historical records that they have had some beauties over the years.

The single malt scotch line-up was as follows in the order in which they were presented. Each copita glass was filled with one and a quarter ounce of whisky for each of the five single malts.

Aberlour 18, 42.75% abv

Tomatin 1989, Gordon and MacPhail Connoisseur's Choice bottled 2011, 43% abv

Macallan Ruby, part of the 1824 series, 43% abv

Glenmorangie Signet, 46% abv

Bunnahabhain XXV Years, 46.3% abv



This really was a fine line-up. My taste notes are now posted in the Taste Notes section of the Forum..

PS. I won one of the raffles and was presented with a new bottle of Glenfiddich 12. I also was given one of the Bunnahabhain XXV empty bottles and the impressive mahogany color alder wooden chest and brass fitting box that it comes in as a bit of a collectible. One of the nicest wooden single malt presentation boxes that I have seen for a while.

Sounds like it was a superb night Murray and a great line up of whiskies. I have had the pleasure of all the whiskies except the Tomatin from G & M.

Congrats on the raffle prize, pity it wasnt a full bottle of the Bunnahabhain 25

Sounds like a night i would enjoy and some brilliant whiskies. I have a bottle of the Bunna 25 and Glenmorangie Signet in the cupboard, 2 of my many favourites.
