Well, according to the world whisky awards;

Looks like I need to take a harder loom at Kavalan and try some of their stuff. Full awards listed in the link too.

Going to get myself a bottle of this.

Have you tried any of their whiskies?

Nope. I've heard their standard bottling is very good.

Out of the Solist bottling the vinho is the one that interested me the most (they do a bourbon, sherry and fino cask too), but I've never been able to justify taking a punt on a NAS bottle from and untried distillery for ~£100 .....guess I need to reassess that view.

No doubt it will have sold out now anyway and as these are single cask releases no 2 will be the same. And by the time I get around to one the prices will have gone well north with everyone cashing in on the trophy.

MOM have this one in stock.

I would imagine it will sell fairly quick?!

I've noticed the sherry one has been shooting up in price at auction.

The only expression from this distillery sold in Ontario here is Kavalan Concertmaster Single Malt Whisky for $113. CDN. Any good? This one uses Ruby Port, Tawny Port and Vintage Port casks from Portugal to finish whiskies that were initially matured in American oak.

I noticed Jim Murray rated Kavalan Solist Fino Sherry Cask, 58.4% abv, cask# 5060814021 at 97 in the 2015 Whisky Bible.

Seems to be two of the same, but a difference of 0.01 alcohol content?

The winner of the WWA was 57.5% ....These are single casks so the one you buy will not be the winner. Always find it odd when a single cask wins an award like this as it's not a wider release and everyone can have a 1 hit wonder.
