Guinness World Records name The Macallan M Imperiale 6-litre Lalique decanter the most expensive whisky in the world sold at auction.

The Macallan M Imperiale 6-litre Lalique decanter is officially the most expensive whisky in the world, a bottle sold at auction in Hong Kong for $628,000 in January 2014, breaking the previous record of $460,000 held by The Macallan in Lalique Cire Perdue, raising funds for a host of locally based charities.

The Macallan M (750ml) is being sold in Quebec, Canada at the SAQ for $5000 CDN or 2589.31 British Pound Sterling. Sounds like they just have one bottle available. None available in Ontario.

It's not though it is. It's the most expensive whisky containing package in the world. How much of the value is the 6 litre lalique decanter on it's own? quite a bit empty I'd imagin.

...and it's 6 litres, so it's actually only $74,000 per 70cl, and again part of that price would be for the decanter.

If this were in a standary bottle how much would it be? not the most expensive in the world.


I could get some Glenfiddich 12 year old and put it in a 10 litre, platinum and diamond encrusted hand may lalique decanter, say its the only one in the world and charge $1million for it and it would probably sell.....but not the most expensive whisky in the world right...

it is the most expensive whisky in the world sold at auction, just as Williams post states. It was sold to make money for a good cause and the winner of the auction probably paid the price as it was for a good cause.
