I first had this whisky during a stay in Toronto a couple of years ago and was able to score 2 bottles a few months later, one opened and one unopened. It is seen as exceptional in quality. I can attest to this. Outstanding.
Made at Black Velvet Distilling in Lethbridge, Alta., it's been described by whisky expert Davin de Kergommeaux as "one of the great Canadians." True, that. As chewy as caramel and redolent of the same luscious confection, it displays well-integrated oak character that's more subtle than most whiskies that have spent more than two decades in wood, with complementary notes of peach, vanilla and vibrant citrus. And the biggest draw is the texture - sitting so comfortably on the palate that you'd almost forget to take a second sip. (Globe and Mail, Toronto). _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
