"The US, where haggis has been banned since 1971, denying around 27.5 million Scottish-Americans access to Scotland's most famous dish."

I didn't know this....

27.5 million Scottish-Americans, we are certainly a fertile bunch when we go overseas, there is just over 5.3 million of us in Scotland.

The thing about haggis been banned in the US comes up every once and a while, i doubt the ban will ever be lifted. I am sure haggis producers in Scotland are missing out on a large export market. I am not a big fan of it myself.

Keith, I've carried the haggis in behind the piper at my single malt club many times but I can't eat it cause it's not kosher. I'm always the only one there that doesn't eat it. There is of course a full meal at each tasting event so no problem there. The haggis is just the appetizer. I gave a talk last Tues at that dinner about the new Mortlach range and it was well received.

I believe there are companies that produce certified kosher haggis.

I was invited a few years ago to a Robbie Burns supper at friends and they had vegetarian haggis and it was actually great and looked like the real deal.
