Has anyone tried the Glen Deveron 20 Year? I believe it's from MacDuff Distillery? I have a chance to obtain a 1 litre bottle. Comments?
PS William, I just noticed your post-Macduff Distillery - Glen Deveron Royal Burgh Collection which includes the 20 Year. The price is certainly right!

Hi Murray, I have had all 3 of the Glen Deveron travel retail bottlings when they were released just over 1 year ago, they are the Glen Deveron 16, 20 and 30 year old and all were pretty good considering there age, price and the 16 and 20 are 1 litre bottles.
The 20 is quite rich, sweet vanilla, a bit of toffee, bit of spice, some sweet rich fruity notes and some sharp sour/acidic fruit in there also. I would score it 87/100
I am not sure what the future holds for these travel retail bottlings as owner John Dewar are releasing a new domestic range this summer under the rebranded name "The Deveron", whether they will be renamed or be discontinued I don't know, I did ask Dewar's when they announced the new domestic range as part of there The Last Great Malts Of Scotland www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/lastgreatmalts.htm but they didn't have an answer for me at the time.
To cut a long story short, if you are getting it at a good price then I would say it is worth a try. We pay £70 for the Glen Deveron 20 1 litre bottle. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

William, a friend of mine can bring me back a litre bottle of the 20 Year after his trip to Florida. It's 84.99 US at the Duty Free. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I make that around £55, it is certainly worth that amount and it is always good to try something from a distillery which we rarely see much of, well that was until they released these travel retail bottles. I would guess the new domestic range The Deveron 12, 18 and 25 year old single malts will have price tags similar to the other John Dewar brands which have recently been launched as part of The Last Great Malts Of Scotland ranges of whiskies. The Aultmore 25 for example is £300 and the Aultmore 12 is £42 _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

| Glen Deveron is not a whisky you see much of, i have only had an indie bottling from the MacDuff Distillery and it was a decent Speyside dram IMO. I wouldnt mind trying the Glen Deveron 20 year old if i could get it for £55 for a litre bottle. |
