Hi all, my girlfriends' father has recently uncovered an oversize and very old bottle of blended scotch whisky bottle in his wine cellar.
It's a 1 gallon scotch whisky bottle which looks to have been exported to Belgium in the 1960s (hence the French writing on the back).
Here is the information on the front of the bottle;
Quote:
Produce of Scotland
Registered Lang Brothers Whisky
Blended & Bottled by the
Sole Proprietors
LANG BROTHERS LTD
Distillers
Dumgoyne & Glasgow
Scotland
Established 1861
And the information from the back;
Quote:
British Customs Certificate of Origin No. 14
J.C. Rotation No. 60/161 Date 6/12/60
I have posted some photos (along with a couple of Lang's Brothers marketing images I found courtesy of Google) in a dropbox folder;

I'll be the first to admit I haven't the first clue about Scotch Whisky so I wondered if someone here could help out with an approximate valuation or how would I be able to get it valued?? Apart from those Lang's images I cannot find any similar bottles online, from Wikipedia it looks like Lang's Brothers became part of Glengoyne distillery in 1965.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help!
cheers
NB: Contacted some auction houses and apparent the bottle was only worth £120 - £160... so we're going to drink it!
