Diageo are launchung a new look bottle for Bells Special Reserve in February, its aim is to re-position the Bells as a trade-up for blended Scotch whisky drinkers.
The new bottle has been designed to mimic malt whisky bottles in its shape and label design. It also features an image of creator Arthur Bell, which was added to the Bells Original bottle in September 2007.
Bells Special Reserve is a blend of malt whiskies, centred around the signature Bells malts of Blair Athol, Inchgower, Dufftown, Glenkinchie, and Caol Ila.
The Bells Special Reserve was first launched in 2005 should benefit from the £2m investment Diageo has planned for the Bells brand in the first half of 2009.
Diageo whisky brand director James Pennefather said: "The newly designed Bells Special Reserve is a great option for regular customers who are looking for something a little more special and it provides an accessible way to trade up to a more premium blend with a brand they can trust.

Hi John
Diageo can make it look like a bottle of malt but it is never going to taste like one. But as the majority of whisky sold is blended i am sure this will attract people from that market to spend a little more.

John,
Without looking into the report, is the Bell's still 8 years old?
Nice looking bottle though . . . just like a traditional Caol Ils bottle .. . .

Hi Rene
Dont quote me on this but i think the Bells original is still a 8 year old blended whisky and the Bells Special Reserve is a premium version of it and the special reserve is a blended malt, i believe all malts in it are minimum 8 years old. I think the special reserve is aimed at the Bells original drinkers and sells for around £18.
I have no idea what the Special Reserve tastes like and wont have unless someone gives me a bottle for free so i couldnt comment if it was any good or not.
