The GlenDronach distillery today launched the new GlenDronach 12 year old Sauternes Cask Finish, the new expression replaces the 14 year old Sauternes wood finish expression which was launched four years ago and has now been discontinued.

I had a bottle of the GlenDronach 14 year old Sauternes Cask Finish which took a knocking from Jim Murray but i thought it was ok, it didnt blow me away but i enjoyed the bottle, hopefully they have improved on it by releasing it at 12 years old with a different balance of time spent finishing in the Sauternes wine cask.

The 14 year old Sauternes Cask was a very sweet whisky as you would expect, not to everyones taste maybe but i enjoyed it also.
