Just seen this on Bowmore website. Really enjoyed the 1st one although a pain to get hold of! Just hope it's a bigger release in terms of bottle numbers this time.

Wonder if 1st edition auction prices will decrease as a result of this seemingly not now being a one off? |

Hi Rob. I don't know if you recall but I got a chance to try The first -The Devil's Cask when the Master of Malt of Bowmore came to Toronto last year and I was invited to a special meet, tasting and dinner. I ventured in to the big city for that one. I really enjoyed the dram. The expression was not available in Canada so it was nice to at least try it at the time. I wonder if this new release will make its way here to Canada. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| I would guess following the success of the first release this will be an ongoing small batch annual release like the Tempest |

I recall that the Devil's Cask wasn't the only tasty Bowmore you got to try that evening! It will be interesting to see how much price goes up and number of bottles go up too. I too managed to get a taste, well actually 2 bottles of the 1st release, 1 nearly empty now and 1 to keep.
The sceptic in me says Bowmore have just found a nice new yearly earner! |

The first release really hit the mark in terms of fusing the Bowmore essential taste and appeal with a cask strength first fill sherry cask. I'm hopeful that the 2nd release will also be of quality. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| Heard a rumour that RRP will be £60 which still seems pretty good value. |

Getting your hands on one will be the problem. Do we know how many will be released?

I see the original Bowmore Devil's cask is going for between 289 and 299 Euros on German Ebay, that's $434 Canadian dollars equivalent at the high end of the range. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I'm hopeful that this might become similar to the Tempest small batch release. With greater numbers of bottles and less exclusivity this making it more available.
The going rate in the UK is about £200 after auction fees. I always think with resale prices such as this that there are some amazing whiskies that I could buy retail for £200 more than I want another bottle of in this case Devil's Cask. Having said that Devil's Cask I was a very nice dram! |

Mixed feelings on this release. It was like gold dust trying to get hold of it on release and then all the bottles started appearing on auction sites at £150-£300.
Had the luck of trying it and loved it expect more of it this time round in terms of prices! |

I suspect this will now be an ongoing series, I think Bowmore will milk the popularity of the 1st release and perhaps bump up the price a little. The 1st was excellent for the price they charged and there is no guarantee with such small batch releases that the 2nd release will match the first for quality.
William have you any word from Bowmore on this or better still have you tasted it as i would say it was your review of the 1st batch which caused it to sell out in record time. |
