Balvenie 25 Year Old Single Barrel

The Balvenie have released the third and final addition to The Balvenie Single Barrel range with the release of The Balvenie 25 Year Old Single Barrel Traditional Oak. The 25 year old malt as the whisky's title suggests was matured exclusively in traditional American oak casks that have already been used to mature Scotch whisky.



As you would expect after spending 25 years exclusively in a traditional American oak the Balvenie say the whisky displays subtle spices and a rich honeyed sweetness.

The Balvenie 25 Year Old Single Barrel Traditional Oak like other expressions in the Single Barrel range is non chill-filtered and has been bottled at 47.8% and no more than 300 bottles will be filled from any one cask.

The new Single Barrel Traditional Oak Aged 25 year old will sit at the top of the Balvenie Single Barrel range which also includes The Balvenie First Fill 12 Year Old (which has now replaced the The Balvenie First Fill 15 Year Old) and The Balvenie Sherry Cask 15 Year Old

I would love to try it but £399 for a 25 year old, i guess that is the price you have to pay now.

Saw this go on MasterofMalt today too, I'd rather buy 2 bottles of tun 1401 or whatever that new fangled one is called instead of 1 bottle of this.

.....last years 30 year old was under £300.....have they lost the plot?

This is a single cask so it is bound to to be more expensive than other distillery bottlings of this age but £399 is taking pricing into a new era

I had noticed that the Balvenie 30 year old 2014 release is priced around £465, the 2013 release was just under £300. Quite a jump in 1 year.

The biggest price rise I've seen recently is Macallan Oscuro - originally £400 it is now £650.

It's not bad ( I did bluff a tasting at heathrow) but is it £650? That's a lot of Tali 18 .....

Similar increases for the Balvenie .... but if people buy at this price? I remember asking the then brand ambassador about their price points a year ago and he was confident they would sell (tuns, port wood and single barrel ) .... think he was right
