- I have been actively trying to find a forum where I can find help in getting a valuation on an old bottle of Ben Nevis - Single Highland Malt - 1974 -26 year old and bottled in 2000 with outer box , Iv been offered Â£100 for it but as am not overly knowledgable would greatly appreciate your thoughts on the value.

Here is a example of an auction of a bottle of Ben Nevis 1974 26 year old last March, it fetched Â£140 alongside a bottle of Ben Nevis 10. Going by that my guesstimate would be closer to Â£160 for your bottle then you would have auction and postage costs perhaps. Whisky auctions on bottles such as this can vary quite a bit, just depends on the bidders on the day.

A hard one to predict, it should fetch Â£200+ at auction but could sneek under the radar of bidders as it isnt such a sought after brand.

Remember you have to get the bottle to auction and if you are not near an auction there will be postage and packaging costs to get it there, then there is the auction fees and taxes these usually work out at around 20% of the finally bid amount.

Personally i would go back to the person who made you the offer and say Â£150 and it is yours.
