Gordon & MacPhail are set to launch four very rare old whiskies to mark the steady transition of the family-owned business from 3rd to 4th generation of family owners.



The 4 rare whiskies will be released under the prestigious Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Ultra label this autumn.

The four Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Ultra whiskies are:

Linkwood 1953 61 Year Old
Glenlivet 1952 62 Year Old
Mortlach 1951 63 Year Old
Strathisla 1957 57 Year Old

I've got the following three G&M Private Collection bottlings (in remote storage):-

Linkwood 1959 49/50 year old
Glenlivet 1959 49/50 year old
Mortlach 1957 50 year old

If memory serves, I paid around £900 in total for this trio of sherried, single cask bottlings.

Would that I could go back in time and buy the others that I left on the shelves.

That is quite an indication of the way premium whisky prices have gone in just the past 4 or 5 years.

eelbrook i am sure the prices of these latest Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection whiskies put a smile on your face.

I actually think that that the past bottles from the G&M Private Collection ticked all the boxes - but then I'm biased when it comes to uber-dark sherried bottlings.

I do wonder who these are aimed at. There must be a market for them in the world (probably the far east).

It's a shame that 99% of people now priced out of the market!

There are only about seventy of each new decanter, so they should sell.

That having been saiid, there are still plenty of 70yos on shop shelves.
