You don't mention the prices but I've always wanted to try the Strathisla 12. The distillery is part of the Chivas stable (Pernod Ricard) and Strathisla is at the heart of the Chivas blends. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

I would guess it is a mix of boubon matured with some sherry matured whisky thrown in. Tesco are now stocking it here in the UK so i would guess we will see it on offer at some point.
Quaich1 the Benoromach 10 is a decent dram for the price we pay for it this sode of the water. I got through a couple of bottles of the Lagavulin 12 2009 it was excellent as was all the Lagavulin 12 special releases i have tried to date. I didnt think the Dalwhinnie DE was worth the extra money over the standard bottling still a decent enough dram. |

Cheers, Murray! The Strathisla does look like good value for a 12yo given the prices you normally quote us. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

Hi Murray, i have tried most of them.
The Glendronach Virgin Oak Finish 14 Year Highland $90.
Havent tried this one.
Deanston Virgin Oak Highland $49.
A decent Highland whisky matured in virgin oak and as the name suggests it is full of sweet oak. A young whisky with rough edges but that is part of its appeal.
Benromach 10 Year $75.
A lovely rich, creamy, chocolatey, fruity, oaky, sherried dram with just a touch of smoke.
Tullibardine Aged oak Ed. Highland $50.
A young sweet malty oaky bourbon cask matured whisky.
Laphroaig Cairdeas Islay Origin 51.2%abv $100.
Excellent!
Benriach 12 Importanticus Fumosus Single Peated Malt $75.
A heavily peated Benriach finished in port, spicy, creamy, toffee, orangey and a good portion of peat smoke.
Lagavulin 12 Bottled 2009 $130.
Excellent!
Dalwhinnie Distiller's Ed. 1992 $100.
A rich full bodied sherry finished Dalwhinnie. I agree with Fergie, i am not sure it is worth the extra money.
Strathisla 12 year $58.
As Fergie says "smooth, creamy and fruity". A decent barley/sherry sweet Speysider. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

| Can't top William's round-up, I'll just add that the Benromach 10 is a real star for me. It has a complexity that belies its young age. |

Thanks very much William. That's wonderful comprehensive feedback. Exactly what I was looking for.
