Ardbeg Uigeadail has been awarded the title of World Whisky of the Year by Jim Murrays 2009 Whisky Bible. The honour makes it a double for the Ardbeg distillery as they scooped the same title last year for Ardbeg Ten Year Old.

I havent picked up a copy of the new Whisky Bible 2009 yet but i agree that Ardbeg Uigeadail is a great dram and it deserves this award.

I hope the whisky shops dont put up the price of the Ardbeg Uigeadail because of this award. I agree well deserved. I doubt they will make it a whisky bible hat trick next year with the Blasda.

I hope they dont Andy.
The award is well deservered as it is a great malt but it is no surprise as i think Jim Murray is a big Ardbeg fan.

Hi redlich, the award title is "World Whisky of the Year" not best whisky. A different whisky picks up this award every year. Jim Murray doesnt claim it to be the best. Personally i take the award and everything else in the book to be a rough guide to the quality of each whisky listed. As far as the awards he gives i take these as a guide to what whisky is of a higher quality.
