The Tomatin Distillery in Speyside, is celebrating a prestigious win at this year's Malt Advocate Whisky Awards, with the Antiquary 21 Years Old Deluxe Blend receiving the accolade of Best Scotch Blended Whisky of the Year.
Now in its fourteenth year, the Malt Advocate Whisky Awards exists solely to recognise excellence and promote quality in the world of whisky and is widely recognised as one of the premier competitions on the US and international stage.
Also named as one of the Top Ten New Whiskies of 2008 at the Awards, the 21 Years Old Antiquary was described by judges as being "so rich, even single malt drinkers will enjoy it"?. Taken by the 21 Years Old blend's sweet upfront honey and caramel flavours, married with brighter orchard fruit, the judges were impressed with its spiced palette (dried vanilla, clove and cinnamon), that develops to a dry, oak spice finish.
Alistair Mutch, Director of Harvey Miller Wine & Spirit Agencies, UK distributors for Tomatin and Antiquary commented: "The success of Antiquary 21 Deluxe Blend at this year's Malt Advocate Awards is fantastic. We are delighted to have their undoubted quality recognised at such a major international event"?.
Stephen Bremner, Marketing and Sales Manager for Tomatin Distillery commented: "Our Master Blender, Douglas Campbell, has done a fantastic job perfecting the blend using only the highest quality malt and grain whiskies. Antiquary 21 Years Old is an outstanding whisky and it is overwhelming to have its quality recognised in such a prestigious competition."?
Using malts aged at least 21 years, the Antiquary 21 Years Old has a reputation of a sophisticated and full-bodied dram, created from an exclusive blend of Speyside and Highland malts, with a splash of Islay and the fragrance of Lowland grains.
