Shortie the Ardbeg distillery Jack Russell Terrier mascot has been honoured with his own 200ft diameter crop circle in a field near Macclesfield. Overlooked by the Jodrell Bank Observatory, the installation marks the imminent return of Ardbeg Single Malt Whisky from Space. And I have no doubt that we will see a new limited edition of Ardbeg when the whisky does return to earth.

You can watch a video of the the creation of the Ardbeg "Shortie" crop circle here:

A neat twist to a whisky release. Keeps interest up. Well-done!

William i would imagine we will see quite a big release when the Ardbeg sample returns to earth, they will have to cover the costs of sending it into space. I wonder how much they actually sent into space.

They didn't send it into space. From what I remember they were selected by the company who were doing various experiments on zero G effects, as they were generally considered one of the best distilleries in the world.

.....and it wasn't much either. The experiment on aging was done at the molecular level so very little was needed.

So no costs here for Ardbeg. I suspect they cash in on it though somehow. Next year will be their anniversary release though so it's more likely they'll put their big eggs in that basket.

Not unless they took their own private stash....which I'd do if I was up there for any length of time. Toothbrush, medikits, underpants, Ardbeg.
