| The Macallan did offer 2 tours, a standard tour which was just over an 1 hour which takes you through the production process and there was an extended tour called the "Precious Tour" which also included a tutored nosing and tasting of the range. You have to prebook the Precious Tour" (if they stil run it) The standard tour was £8 and the Precious tour £20 and well worth it but that was a few years ago so things may have changed. Best giving the distillery a call to find out what they offer now and if you have to prebook for any special tours, telephone 01340 872280 |

| I done the Precious tour a while back, in fact it was just me and the wife so it was like a private tour. Not sure if they do it now though as it doesnt mention it on the new Macallan website. |

| The shop had quite a mouth watering selection of rare Macallans as well as all the currently available Macallan whisky range. Aberlour is a great visit also and isnt too far away, i done both in the same day. |

I popped into the Macallan shop on Saturday, really disappointed with the stock they had. They seemed to have more candles than bottles.
Visit Glenfarclas or Glenlivet and they will have better stock.
If you are looking for something different, Aberlour had a nice 10yr sherry cask finish, for the French market in stock at £30. _________________ You can't push anyone up the ladder unless he is ready to climb himself. |

Perhaps the Macallan have run down the stock in the distillery shop as they are planning to build a new distillery and visitor centre, work begins soon i think. They had a good range when i visited a couyple of years ago.
I agree Glenfarclas and Aberlour are a great visit with a great selection in the shops and i wish i had got more of the fill-your-own bottles at Aberlour. |
