Anybody try this one? Its a little cheaper here in Ontario than in Scotland at $1,000
Canadian in Ontario. They advertise it here but none of the LCBO outlets I checked online carry it. In any event, it's a little steep considering a group of other bottles I could get for a grand here. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I have had the Macallan 25 and it was a superb sherried Macallan but I have had a few Macallan 18 year old which were far superior to the Mac 25 and considerably cheaper.

When considering the price difference and quality difference between the 18 and 25 i would say go for a few bottles of the Macallan 18. The Macallan 25 is very good but it didnt blow me away and for the price they want for it now it would have to blow me away for that money.

Go for the Macallan 18, the 25 price is crazy, a great whisky but so is the 18. Personally, perhaps it is my taste but i would say the Macallan peaks at 18 to 21 but there will always be exceptions but i have not had a Macallan 25 that i would say was better than the 18 but each release does vary.

Yes I enjoyed a dram in Houston, Texas at $95 a shot. Very, very enjoyable. The sherry flavours were impressive, smooth and satisfying. Can't afford the whole bottle myself, but did go for a lesser version and it is very good too. Go for it.

Welcome to the Forum. Yes, sometimes a dram of a rarer whisky is one way to enjoy the experience. I've had some rare single malts myself in that fashion including Port Ellen expressions. A friend of mine had the Glenfiddich 50 Year that way too by the ounce.
