Ardbeg Kildalton New 2014 Release

Ardbeg Kildalton is a new expression from Ardbeg which has been launched to help raise funds to support Islay's hard working rural community groups. Currently only available from the distillery shop but will be available to purchase online from Autumn 2014 in the UK and selected European markets.



The Ardbeg Kildalton is a limited release expression, a union of a range of different ages and styles which has been matured in Bourbon barrels as well as both new and refill Sherry casks. Non chill-filtered and bottled at 46% ABV.

The Ardbeg Kildalton 2014 is priced at £120 a bottle and Ardbeg has told me that a substantial sum from the proceeds of each bottle will go towards delivery of The Kildalton Project on Islay.

It does sound good William but way out of my price range for a NAS whisky albeit for a good cause or not.

Yes a big ask for a NAS, how limited is it do you know William?

William, any clue from Ardbeg of the ages of the whisky that has gone into the Kildalton, i recall the original Ardbeg Kildalton release back in 2004 was 24 year old and was 1300 bottles and £95 at the time, it shows how much things have changed in the whisky world.

They havent revealed anything about the ages of the whisky in the Kildalton. I did ask about the number of bottles but they are not revealing this either.

I know some of the profits are going to charity but £120 is a big price for a NAS even for Ardbeg especially if they are not declaring details such as how limited the release is.

To ask so much for this they really should be telling the buyer how much is going to the charity and this casual use of the "limited edition" without revealing the number of bottles is becoming to common a practice. I would love to taste this it does sound good going by Williams tasting notes but i can get a couple of bottles of Uigeadail and change for this price.

They really should reveal the details when asking these prices, it does sound like a good whisky i would enjoy but so is the Uigeadail and Corryvreckan and the 10 year old for that matter.

Might seem high at £120 for a NAS with not much information, but at the time of this reply prices already as high as £300 on Whisky Auctioneer and that is only with 1 day gone......

Notice today, online retailers are starting to selling Ardbeg Kildalton, but it's going at auction prices. I might buy a bottle at 120 -150 price range, but any higher no thanks. Also if anyone is still looking for this years Ardbeg release at a decent price, MP me.
