Howdy. I'm something of a beginner in the ways of good whiskey, and as such I usually do my research before I go out and procure a tipple. In this case however, I splashed out for curiosity's sake as I couldn't find out much as to taste, age, bottling date or value (the one thing that's prevented me cracking into it!). I thought that spoke at least for it's rarity, and snapped it up at £15 in a co-op clearance. It's 35cl.
Has anyone had experience with this particular dram? I can't imagine it exactly being the cream of the crop, but perhaps it has some collectable value to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Glenfiddich did bottle their whisky for a while with no age statement, your bottle looks like a 1990s bottle so it has probably been sitting in a co-op storeroom for some time i would think. You may find this post of interest.

I would imagine you could get around £50 or more from a collector in a good day at auction but then there is the auction costs. Just my guestimate, perhaps a good one to stick in the back of the cupboard for a few years. |

Drink it, it's a good inoffensive dram for all.
I have been raiding my father-in-law's whisky cabinet when I go up to his. He's Scottish and all business associates buy him Whisky for special occasions and he can't stand the stuff!
So, I'm ploughing through some bottles and have had this without really thinking about the age (until I realised it probably was twice the price of a standard 'fiddich), but thought to myself that it's a dram you won't get anywhere now and in the scheme of things isn't worth selling on for a score profit.
Enjoy! |

| Yes that the old no age statement bottling which was stopped back in the 1990s. If you are a whisky drinkier it will be an enjoyable dram, it would be interesting to compare it with the current 12 year old. |

Damn, didn't expect such informative responses so fast! Many thanks, lads.
I think I'm likely to crack fairly soon and indulge myself. Good to know it probably wouldn't be a great loss in the respect of auctioning, but better just to know exactly what I'm imbibing! I may well look into buying the modern variation for comparison's sake as suggested. _________________ chin chin |
