The Balvenie have released a whiky app. It scans news feeds and top blogs for latest news and allows you to create a whisky shelf and wish list. Whiskies are not limited to expressions of The Balvenie so pretty much all distilleries are covered. You can also rate and review on there.
It's ok, it's new so the community side (reviews) has not fully taken off yet, but with more time on the market I imagine it will be quite good:

Avaliable for iOS and Android for free. It seems quite data heavy when being used so you may have to watch your airtime if you're on a data restricted plan. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

I downloaded this yesterday, looks quite good but the number of whiskies in the database is relatively small. The biggest problem with this I can see is all additions to the database need to be done by someone at Balvenie, this is going to slow down everything to a snails pace for the indi bottlings. Much better if they allow users to add their own but I guess then it's open to misuse.
The news feed looks good mind but a lot of filter directly from twitter so if you use twitter and follow a lot of the whisky crowd there is a lot of regurgitated stuff. |

I got the email newsletter about this, don't they do something like this on there website as part of their Warehouse 24 members club thingy where members can post reviews, i don't think it really caught on.
They could do with employing someone to review all the current core range and recent limited release bottlings for all the in production distilleries to make it worth while, i am sure there would be someone on here who would happily volunteer to do it. |

I'll do it, but I want £50k a year and unlimited access to the Balvenie vault for my personal tasting pleasure.

| I'll do it as long as my office is in the warehouse and just a bit towards travel expenses... |
