Kilchoman have announced the 2014 release of its 2nd limited edition 5 year old sherry cask matured expression Kilchoman Loch Gorm Single Malt Whisky. Bottled at 46% ABV, non chill-filtered and with no added colouring, just as we like it.

I havent tasted this one but i did taste the 1st release launched last year which was a cracking young peaty sherried Islay whisky and i would think this 2nd release will be very similar. Going by last year this sells out quickly.

I had the 1st Kilchoman Loch Gorm last year and it was very good and showed great potential for the future for a sherried style Kilchoman but i did expect this years release to be 1 year older and not another 5 year old, i have to say i have been there and done that at this price and would have been more interested in a 6 year old to see how the whisky is developing. Having said that i am sure it will be an excellent whisky for those who didnt try it last year but as i said i have been there and done that.

Yes that is surprising why the 2014 Loch Gorm is not a 6 year old, i thought we paid these prices as we could monitor the whisky as it matured each year, surely it isnt going to continue getting bottled at 5 years old for this price. Like you Crane i have had the 5 year old, it was great and showed great potential but i dont need to try another 5 year old.
