Any opinions on this one?
I remember an older bottling of 18 year old Glenmorangie being absolutely delicious - I believe that one's finished in sherry casks like the Lasanta?
I have enjoyed the Quinta Ruban and the Nectar D Or so was was considering the Lasanta as my next buy but have recently read some discouraging reviews......... |

I've had a couple of bottles of this and it's my favourite out of those. but I know a lot of people here disagree. |

My experience and conclusion with the Lasanta is that it is sulphur tainted. Most of my single malt colleagues here in Canada agree. I have had a very few Lasanta drams along the way that weren't bad but lately the sulphur reeks on the palate. There are so many other Glenmorangies that are truly excellent that I wouldn't waste my time on the Lasanta. It's not even carried here anymore. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

You're not the first here to say so, which leads me to wonder if I've been lucky with the bottles I have had, or perhaps I just like the sulphur! Seriously though, I remember it fondly as being similar but, IMHO, better than Balvenie Doublewood. |

| I'm another one who really didn't like it. The dram I had was rank with it. Do much so that I gave away my unopened bottle. |

| I have never had a sulphur tainted Lasanta but i guess this is bottled in batches so it could be a bit hit & miss as i know a few on here have had a bad experience of the Lasanta. |

Apparently some people simply can't discern sulphur. I've always thought this was a little strange myself as I've never met anyone who doesn't know what you mean by 'struck matches', 'open drains', 'eggy', etc. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

| I'm not a fan of the Lasanta, in fact I prefer the Glenmorangie 10 to the three wood finishes they do. I agree with nitram that it's similar to the Balvenie Doublewood, although I would definitely put the Doublewood on top. |

| Surely it is unlikely that every batch of Lasanta is tainted, either way i agree with posters above, the Balvenie Doublewood would be my choice anyway. |

Recently, I tried a Lasanta mini bottle and it was just as tainted as the full size bottles. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| I have experienced both tainted and untainted Lasanta either way it is not a whisky i would reach for anyway, as others have said there are some quality sherried alternatives such as the Balvenie Doublewood, Aberlour, Glenfarclas, Glendronach. |

| They could all be tainted if that's the flavour profile Glenmo are trying to achieve |

Thanks everyone, has anyone made a comparison between this and the 18 year old?
I believe the two are both finished in sherry casks? |

| Don't think I've ever had the 18 but it's a flagship whisky for them so I'd say therec is very little chance of any sulphur in there. |
