I am sure this has been asked before what whisky makes up this blend. I know dalwhinnie makes an appearance but besides that i have no clue.

GBrough, you often find that there is around 40% malt whisky and 60% grain whisky in any blend (perhaps a little higher malt content in a deluxe blend), the percentage of malt whisky can be made up of as much as 40 or 50 single malts and often only a few single malts are at the heart of the blends style/character. I have heard it said in the past that Dalwhinnie is a contributor to the Buchanan's DeLuxe 12 year old which is very possible as Buchanan's and Dalwhinnie are both owned by Diageo and Buchanan's does have a mild smokeyiness and sweet honey notes which could possibly have come from the Dalwhinnie. Having said that Dalwhinnie doesnt have a huge output capacity so Diageo would use it sparingly.

The short answer to your question is the whisky companies dont reveal what exactly goes into their blends.

Buchanan's is not widely available here in the UK, i guess it is one of those blends that is produced for and mainly sold in overseas markets. I have only come across it in the US

Here in the states and in South America it has popularity. I feel it is much better than Johnnie Walker Black Label.
