Glenmorangie is asking its own whisky fans to have a say in the development of a brand new limited edition Glenmorangie expression.
What this means is you will be able to vote online on the taste, design and launch of a new whisky and what's more in doing so you will have the chance of winning some fabulous prizes.
The new initiative named the Glenmorangie Cask Masters online programme will run for 18 months and anyone can take part.
The first stage, "Cask Selection" has already begun. The winner of this stage will be flown to the origin of the chosen cask to spend three luxurious nights in 5-star accommodation.
For more info about the Glenmorangie Cask Masters online programme/competition see here:
www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/glenmorangiecaskmasters.htm
Look out for the 3 videos at the bottom of the page about the 3 possible whiskies which you can vote for, they are:Cask A - Grand Cru Burgundy
Cask B - Grand Cru Bordeaux
Cask C - Manzanilla
Which cask would you choose
To vote for the cask and to be in with a chance of winning one of the great prizes you need to register at www.glenmorangie.com/caskmasters _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

Thanks Murray, I still have a bit of a tickly irritatating cough but well on the mend although sense of smell and taste not quite 100% yet, i tested it with a Bowmore 12 year old.
I see that Cask C, the Manzanilla sherry cask is picking up most of the votes so far which is not a big surprise. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

William, that was my choice. I could almost taste it vicariously. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

William, that was my choice. I could almost taste it vicariously. | I think Burgundy and Bordeaux cask matured whisky can be hit or miss with many whisky drinkers and the majority would go for the Manzanilla sherry cask. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

| I went for the Manzanilla sherry cask also. Some nice prizes, I wonder what age and price it will be in the end? |

Sorry to be boring but I went for the Manzanilla as well. Can't beat a touch of sherry sweetness _________________ I was put on this earth to accomplish a certain amount of things, at this rate I may never die! |

| I recall the old Glenmorangie Burgundy Cask finish which they dropped when they rebranded the cask finish Glenmorangie whisky range a few years ago and it wasnt great, overly sweet IMO so that puts me off choosing the Burgundy. I have went for the Manzanilla cask. |

albo and I just attended the last in the series of the UK tastings (in association with Whisky Lounge) at the Glenmorangie HQ in Edinburgh (great rooftop views!). I wentf for cask C. I thought A was a little sulphured, B was pleasant though and I accept that the World doesn't really need another sherry-casked whisky but at the end of the day it's clear why sherry casks are preferred. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

I didnt realise they were doing tastings, i wonder if there was any tastings over here on the west coast of Scotland.
Bifter, how old did you think the 3 casks were? And did they give any indication of what the price tag will be? |

Gillian McDonald was in attendance tonight and she deflected any questions about provenance and price. Obviously depending what is selected the vat size will vary but that will have to satisfy the international market.
I would guess these were in the 10-12 year old bracket myself. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

| I wonder if they will even release it with an age statement given the current trend for releasing over priced young whisky. |
