I have a round number birthday coming up and intend to open one of the balvenie tuns batch 2 to 9.
I understand number 3 was the best, is that still correct?
unfortunately I cant afford to try more than one so would appreciate opinions from those who have tried a few. |

The vast majority of what I read says #3 for sure. I'm sure they are all very good.

I have only had the pleasure of the 8 but it was my favourite whisky of 2013, bar none. That is ahead of the likes of HP30, Talisker 25, Balblair 75 and 83, OP30 and Dewar's Signature. Quite stunning and well worth £200 a bottle RRP, what's it fetching now? _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

Yes, one of my top malts of 2013 too. Totally agree.
HTFW are flogging it for over £400, which is funny as auctions have been completing at around £200ish......but it's not like HTFW taking the *** or anything, they'd never do that.
MoM were still selling it for £220 until about 2 weeks ago...
...as I've already said, the Tun 1401 bottles are flooding the 2nd hand market as people are just buying them now to sell on and not drinking them. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

I was really Lucky though I hasten to add because batch 8 was normally 299Euro in Europe, and bascially gone now .
Batch 7 (which I'm still missing) Goes for 399euro +. Its still avaliable but I just can't justify that to myself. Same for batch 5 now 399 Euro (so roughly 330pounds).
Anyway I've read that batch 9 is excellent too from what Reviews are out there. So it's between 8 and 9, it's just those who have sampled 9 have never tried 8, and Visa Verse. |

I saw several bottles of the batch 7 at the Las Vegas airport first part of December at $250.00 each.
They wouldn't sell it to me as I was not leaving the country.

Dam!!!!!! | Out of the 2 travel retail bottllings Batch 4 & 7, batch 7 was the better of the 2 IMO, in fact i would place it alongside 1, 2 and 8 as being very good. Batch 1 was outstanding and 8 not for behind. I havent had the pleasure of the US exclusive batches 3, 6 and 9 but i have heard good reviews of all 3. _________________ There's no bad whisky. From the LAWS perspective the batch 3 is an A. Batch 6 a B+. The batch 9 an A-.
I have all three batches but my doctor said I have to quit drinking and loose 30 pounds.
Guess what the first thing I'm going to do when he says I've reached my goal

It's a standard doctor reply.
It's a combination thing for me.
Have a little Scotch in the evening and it makes me hungry for simple Carbs. Now sleep on that and yes it is fattening.
Seems to have the same effect as pot for most people.
Where abouts you at in the USA Big Mac? I'm just south of the Twin Cities in Minnesota. _________________ TUN 1401 batches 3,6,9. |
