I have been offered the above in lieu of some money owed. A quick search online shows that it sells for around 175. Is this right, does anyone know what the rrp was?
I'm owed around 150 so seems a fair deal but not much knowledge about special releases from Ardbeg. Is it a keeper or a drinker? |

| Not my favourite Ardbeg but still a collectable one. Remember if you come to sell at auction you will have a minimum 10% selling fee along with postage to auction house/delivery and possibly an inclusion fee. |

I believe it had an RRP of £65 when it was released. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

£65rrp seems like he's getting a good deal here!
If only knew what it tasted like! He assures me that it's only going up in value, I'm sure he's right, but can't help but thinking I'm doing worse out of this than he is. |

No.
The "untamed" release is the 2nd Alligator and thegeneral release to the public. the1st release was out to the Committee only and commands much higher prices - around £350 at the moment. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

Thanks. I've told him I'll take it in lieu of payment.
I'm yet to decide whether to open it. |

It's good, if you like Ardbeg.
Very spicy, lots of wood but also sweet. Like chargrilled BBQ meat on the beach :D
If that's your thing then open it, if you'd rather have the money then sell it. Chances are you're not going to buy one yourself though, so if you dont drink it you probably wont ever.
PS: In my view it's not worth £175, even if that's the going market rate. If I was going to buy one I would be prepared to pay anymore than, say, £80 for a bottle...that's about what I think it's worth (quality wise) in my own personal view. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |
