Glenmorangie is relocating its headquarters to Edinburgh and upgrading its Glenmorangie and Ardbeg distilleries as part of a £45m revamp plan. They are selling their present headquarters at Broxburn, West Lothian, to Diageo. Sites for their new headquarters and bottling plant have yet to be revealed.
As part of the revamp they will also be selling of the Glen Moray distillery at Elgin as a going concern. Glen Moray whisky is mainly used for blended Scotch and the distillery is a very popular tourist attraction on the Whisky Trail.
They are planning to increase capacity at Glenmorngie, where new whisky cask warehouses will be built and the visitor centre will be restyled. At Ardbeg the distillery and visitor centre will be upgraded and new cask warehousing will be constructed. The process of change will be phased over two years.

I wonder how much they are asking for Glen Moray?
I would guess Glen Moray isnt a trendy enough brand for owners LVMH.

I have heard rumors that Whyte & Mackay is understood to be eyeing a possible takeover of Glen Moray.

I have heard this also. I dont know how big a maturing whisky stock the purchase of Glen Moray will come with but i would imagine if it does come with a large stock of maturing malt it will be of great interest to Vijay Mallya the Indian owner of Whyte & Mackay. He would want it for blending with his own Indian whiskies i would guess, with the Indian market being the biggest whisky market in the world, well depending on yur definition of whisky.

Thought i would update this post concerning Glenmorangies rervamp.
The first phase of work to expand the Glenmorangie Distillery has been completed. Additional fermentation capacity and extensions to existing buildings to house this have been completed.
Phase two of the revamp, which will see a range of malt whisky distillation equipment added, is about to start.
Glenmorangie said this would help it meet demand for single malt whiskies in the USA, Far East and central Europe.
New stills
It is the largest expansion in the history of the distillery, which is where the Glenmorangie brand was first created in 1843.
Chief executive Paul Neep said: "Given the increasing growth of single malts across the world, and of major brands like Glenmorangie, we are responding to the expected long-term requirements for the brand.
"The investment we are making in Tain, and elsewhere in Scotland, will deliver long-term additional growth for both the company and also, importantly, for the local and wider Scottish economies."
Stage two of the expansion project will allow for an increase in production capacity at the distillery by 50% and includes the installation of four new stills.
The new stills will be replicas of those already used.
