We're in the midst of our first major storm of the season here in Ontario, Canada. Expecting 25-30cm in the next 24 hours but more possible with Lake effect snow coming off Lake Ontario- a stone's throw from here. Funny thing is Winter doesn't officially start here until later in December. Heavy winds are causing huge snow drifts up to your waist or higher and zero visibility. Some places up North will have 100cm in a couple of days. Have a pair of mountainman snowshoes handy if I need them. I went out early this morning with my Artic gear (minus snowshoes) to get extra food provisions. Minus 18C at the moment. No worries about running out of Scotch. Probably would have enough to get me through a new ice age.

Trying to match the mood of the day with a couple of single malts later on? What goes with a vicious snow-blinding storm just outside my window? We're a tough bunch we Canadians. Have a few frostbite scars from past encounters with our weather.

I'd say a Tasliker or Old Pulteney for that kind of weather. The finish up with something sherry and smoke like an Ardbeg Oogi

The snow continues.....(another 24 hours of constant snow ) here.

Started with Macallan 12. Just poured Glenfrclas 105, a cask strength sherry bomb. Would make a great snow cone. What do you think?

That would have been the perfect drink.....just make sure the roofs ok before you start!!

If it gets to cold....use the pages from "the whisky bible" and a bottle of Bourbon to "help" the flames on the fire as you sip that Snow Pheonix.

Murray it defintely sounds like the weather to put the feet up at home and pour a few drams. I would think a big sherried dram or one of the big peaty Islay drams would be a good choice.

A glengoyne teapot with a few splashes of water - the biggest sherry bomb I've encountered, including the farc 105
