William, great piece on this new offering. This expression sounds lovely; the bottle quite eye-catching.

53.1% ABV is a pretty high alcohol strength after 62 years in a barrel.

You could just pour it into an old bells bottle and toss this garish bottle out. Better still if you have a 1L bottle of bells with 300ml left in. Should make for a pretty good whisky to mix with coke on a warm summers night

I would love to get the chance to taste this, i see Jim Murray has reviewed the 3rd Macallan Lalique release which was a 57 year old and he praised it very highly and scored it at 95.

I would love to taste these Macallan Lalique bottlings but they are way out my price range. I still have a unopened bottle of Gordon & Macphail Macallan Speymalt 1938 65 year old which i know is superb as i already drunk a bottle but i never paid anywhere near £16,000 for them. I wonder how much my remaining bottle is worth now.

Very nice Mac, i am sure the Speymalt Macallan 65 would be worth at least £5000 now.

Mac i tasted the Macallan Speymalt 1938 65 year old back in 2009 at the Whisky Show at the Guildhall in London, it was outstanding and one of my highlights of the show that year, i am sure it has more than doubled in value since you purchased your bottle, i dont think you see any around now. I would agree with Brummie you would probably have to pay around £5000 now to get hold of a bottle.

What you can buy for 16,000 pounds or $27,000 equivalent instead of this one bottle of scotch-

1) Buy a 1979 Corvette Stingray car, very collectible, $27,000

2) 2 Hire Donald Trump to Speak for One Minute $25,000

3) Make a Low, Low, Low Budget Indie Horror Film $27,000
Low budget horror

4)Buy an 84 Inch Sony 4K Widescreen TV $25,000

5) Buy a 1957 Cessna 172 Airplane for $27,000

or

Buy the scotch. Which would you choose?

I'll take the plane.
Very Happy

The Corvette and Cessna would be tempting but they would have maintenance costs whereas the Macallan has no maintenance costs Very Happy
