When this expression was put on the shelves of the LCBO less than a year ago, it went for $99.00 Canadian equivalent a bottle. I just noticed on Germany Ebay it is going for anywhere between $436-$803 Canadian equivalent a bottle. Some are the Canadian edition and some may be the American edition but both are priced right up there. I bought 5 bottles of the Canadian Edition when it was released on the shelves of the LCBO when it first came out for the $99. price. Nice to know the 4 remaining unopened bottles I have left have a possible book value of up to $3200. Canadian. Is that crazy or what!!

It makes them harder to open when some people are willing to pay crazy price s for them which you know would buy you a few other bottles of something nice.
With the government control over alcohol sales in Ontario do you have a way to sell rare and collectable whisky such as an official auction. |

James, that is really the issue. I'm not familiar with any such auctions here in Ontario or Canada for that matter if they do exist. Maybe things will change in time. Who knows! It's nice to know at least that I correctly predicted that the Cask of Dreams would be a winner.

James, that is really the issue. I'm not familiar with any such auctions here in Ontario or Canada for that matter if they do exist. Maybe things will change in time. Who knows! It's nice to know at least that I correctly predicted that the Cask of Dreams would be a winner.

Murray, I have never sold anything at auction either, i buy the whisky to drink and dont see it as losing money by drinking it even when it has multiplied in value. Having said that whisky values in the last 5 years have changed dramatically and some bottles are getting hard to open especially when i know what to expect when i open it having previously tasted them.
My wife sometimes thinks i am mad when i tell her that i have just poured a whisky that someone somewhere is willing to pay £1000 for and i may have paid less than £100 for, she says she would sell it without hesitation but she knows it is one of my great pleasures in life and realises i dont pay £1000 a bottle, although i have been getting closer to that amount for special bottlings in recent years. |

It is crazy Murray, i never got the chance to try any of the Glenfiddich Cask of Dreams bottlings but going by your notes it has been a good one. It is a pity about the restrictions on sending whisky in the post between Scotland and Canada, i could have exchanged a bottle of the Glenfiddich Foundation Reserve for a bottle of your Cask of Dreams

Well said James. I have never sold any whisky I have ever owned although I have given away some nice bottles for presents on occasion. I agree that whisky is for drinking at least in my way of thinking though its fascinating as you say to think that some folks may pay on rare occasions 8-10 times what we paid for a bottle.

Hi WIlliam. Yes, it is a pity about rigid restrictions on sending whisky through the post between our countries. Yes that exchange would have been nice.

I have had the pleasure of the American Glenfiddich Cask of Dreams and the Glenfiddich Foundation Reserve and both were really outstanding. I only got hold of a bottle of the Glenfiddich Foundation Reserve thanks to William and this forum, my brother in Scotland got 3 bottles for me of which i have drunk 2, as i recall the price went from £50 to £500 overnight for the Glenfiddich Foundation Reserve. |
