Sailing school and charter company Plain Sailing is being sponsored by Ian Macleod Distillers to spread the word about its Six Isles blend using the 46ft Bavaria class vessel, named Six Isles.
The yacht promoting a blend of malts from Scotland's six whisky-producing islands called at Oban over the weekend, as part of an adventure sail round the British Isles. Its next stop will be Tobermory, on the Isle of Mull.
The voyage started in London and the boat sailed along the south coast, before coming up west. As well as the skipper, two of the crew are yacht master certificate students, and two are there for the experience.
Stuart White, Director of Plain Sailing, the yacht charter said: "Sailing around the British Isles is one of the great adventures, complete with challenging conditions and breathtaking scenery. The Round Britain Experience is a well-established training and adventure programme that has been finely tuned to provide one of the best sailing experiences in the world."?
Created by the malt team at Ian Macleod Distillers, The Six Isles is a blended Island Malt made with the best of mature malts and selected from casks drawn from distilleries on each of the six whisky producing Scottish Islands: Islay, Jura, Mull, Arran, Skye and Orkney.
The crew has also been provided with stock and point of sale to promote Six Isles throughout the voyage in over 60 UK ports including all the Scottish Whisky Islands that make up the Six Isles blend. So watch for it coming to a port near you.
I have added tasting notes for The Six Isles to the tasting notes forum:
