I popped by the LCBO this morning to ask once again if the Bowmore Devil's cask was "coming to town". Doesn't look like it so far. However , I noticed a new offering on their shelves:
GLENFIDDICH MALT MASTER EDITION
LCBO 350892 | 750 mL bottle
Price $ 89.95
Any comments on this one. Is it available in UK too? _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Yes the Glenfiddich Malt Master's Edition is available here, it has no age statement and was matured firstly in traditional oak casks then in sherry casks, imagine a traditional Glenfiddich with almond sherried fruit cake notes and some extra spice added. £50 a go this side of the water. I have only had 1 bottle which i very much enjoyed, i believe it is done in batches so i guess it can vary from batch to batch.
I am referring to the Glenfiddich Malt Master's Edition "Sherry Cask", i am not sure if they have done other types of casks and released them as Glenfiddich Malt Master's Edition. Was ii a sherry cask edition you saw? |

| The Glenfiddich Malt Masters Edition sherry cask is like a Glenfiddich version of the Balvenie Doublewood, only the Doublewood is cheaper but i would say i prefered the Glenfiddich Malt Masters Edition. You are pay extra for that popular money making "limited edition" tag that distilleries use so much today. |

That's a good way to put it Brummie. I opted not to buy one yet as the new product offerings are starting to appear here for the Fall-Christmas cycle and I want to peruse what's out there here in Ontario before opening my wallet again. It was opening so much the last few months for scotches, it was "catching cold and needed a sweater", the wallet that is, not me.

| I know what you mean, it is very easy to open the wallet and you are getting less and less for your money these days, in terms of age and quality of whisky. I am certainly being more selective these days and i am simply not just giving any whisky a try, i would alway for look for independent reviews for anything expensive before buying. I do like to buy at least a couple of new (to me) bottlings of something special for drinking over the christmas holiday period. |

You're not the only one in this boad Brummie. It's sad that the rise in prices is in danger of putting people off trying new things. |

Samson, I believe it is but I'll take another look when I pop into the LCBO and check for sure.

Foot note
Well, you guys have done it (Samson & Alistair). I went down to the LCBO to answer your question about the exact maturing of this new offering here in Ontario. I was in there the other day but showed tremendous will power and didn't buy it. Note for future reference -Never go back twice to look at the same bottle in the same store. I guarantee you'll buy it on the second visit. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. It now stands in my single malt bar.
Now to the issue at hand. It is a 750ml bottle Malt Master's Edition Batch No 04/13
Double matured in oak and sherry casks. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
