Here are my taste notes from today.
Neat-
Nose: Sweet BBQ rub, smoke, coal essences., licorice, salt lick, "sticky lice", earthy, pungent, peat, cinnamon n' bulrushes, extreme smoked/ BBQ"d salmon and a musty library filled with antique books.
Palate: Spices, smoke, peat, black licorice, smooth, sweetness and berry throat lozenges.
Finish: Long, spices, smoke, salty, coal tar notes, high cocoa content dark chocolate, After 8 mints and aromatic pipe tobacco, cloves and mince pie.
If I didn't know what this was, it could pass for an aromatic single malt scotch from Islay. It has a lovely penetrating nose, solid and forceful palate and a lasting and pleasant finish.
Quite a surprise here. I would highly recommend it. This is as complex a dram as I have had for some time. The finish never ends.
