Head to Head to Head Comp Cask of Dreams-Can, G15 & Abe

Here are my taste notes comparing these 3 drams almost at the same time, going from one to the others and back again and again for nose, palate and finish, all taken neat.

Glenfiddich Cask of Dreams, Canadian Edition

Nose: Stewed fruit, rum and raisin ice cream, honey n' spice, marmalde and butterscotch ripple ( fresh cream and ribbons of butterscotch flavor).

Palate: Spicy fruit ice wine, smooth, full-bodied and nutty.

Finish: Long, shades of cognac after dinner, warming spice and waffs of pipe tobacco.

Glenfiddich 15 The Solera Vat

Nose: Stone fruit, purple plums, caramel candy, fruit cocktail syrup, citrus and Turkish delight candy.

Palate: Orange peel, mouth-watering, spice, dark chocolate and leather note.

Finish: Lingering, blood oranges, spice and coffee.


Aberlour 16

Nose: Sherry trifle, banana, split, vanilla n' honey, and buttermilk pancakes.

Palate: Sherry whispers, smooth and creamy, honey n' spice.

Finish: Dark honey, hints of mild prune nectar and expresso memories.


Wow. Each of these expressions has their significant strengths. The Cask of Dreams
reminds one of the gentleman's study in an ol' mansion, full of splendor and character.
The Solera vat reminds one of the country estate overlooking a large meadow with fragance and milieu. The Aberlour 16 reminds one of the sweet shop with layers of enticing aromas and flavors.

I prefer the Cask 0f Dreams-Canadian Edition though I would run a mile for any of these three.

Cheers for the tasting notes. The Glenfiddich 15 is a regular of mine and the Aberlour 16 has become a bit of a regular over the past year or so,both great drams. I doubt i will get the chance to taste the Canadian cask of dreams but it sounds a cracker.
