|
|
The Auchentoshan Virgin Oak is a limited edition from the Glasgow distillery. Traditionally the Auchentoshan whisky we all know is matured in ex-Bourbon casks or ex-sherry casks or even in a combination of both but as the "Virgin Oak" name tells us this new offering from the lowland distillery was matured solely matured in new virgin North American oak casks that have never been influenced or tamed by another spirit.
The Auchentoshan Virgin Oak is a limited edition single malt which is non chill-filtered just as we like it and bottled at 46% ABV. I am not sure how limited a release this is but if I find out I will let you know. Priced around £69.99
My thoughts on it here:

| Sounds interesting but as you say William the price is a bit of a stumbling block for me. If you do hear the number it is limited to do let us know. |

| It does annoy me when a whisky company uses the term "Limited Edition" but doesnt state the number of bottles. The Scotch Whisky Association needs to add a rule about this method of marketing as it is quite sleazy. |

The Glen Garioch Virgin Oak was 720 for UK and 6000 for the rest of the world so my number of 500 might be UK only(the tour guide just said a release of 500 which I took to be worldwide). _________________ Putting the func in dysfunctional. |

Auchentoshan have confirmed that there are 1000 X 8.4 litre cases of Auchentoshan Virgin Oak worldwide, therefore 12000 X 70cl bottles. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

12,000 bottles probably means that it is quite limited in the markets of the world where it is available but considering it is a no age statement whisky the price is not justified IMO but perhaps i just need to come to terms with the fact that this is now the sort of pricing we can expect to see for single malt whisky |
