|
|
Hi I have a very rare blue case containing a 30 year old single malt whisky including 2 crystal tumbler glasses to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Simpsons factory. Very few of these gift sets were ever given out. Only one to date has ever been given to a charity for auction. The only other people to have this extremely rare whisky with the Simpsons name are a few chief executives of Simpsons customers. The only other way to acquire this unique rare whisky case set was to have been an outstanding member of John Simpsons work force and this came about when my friend who worked for Simpsons for all his life got awarded this very rare whisky. It is signed by John Simpson himself and is a 750ml bottle.
I am looking at selling it with serious bids starting at £500 +

Hi, the Whisky just says on the bottle. " Simpsons Malt The home of good Malt for 150 years then under that it says 30 year old single Malt scotch Whisky. Appearance is burnished copper clear and bright.. Aroma Cloudy honey and vanilla, pencil shavings and cinnamon bark with a hint of Black pepper.
taste: sweet custard with a hint of ginger & citrus peel.
after taste: sweet and long with residual after spices. The whisky is the only john Simpsons own whisky by all records, but not totally sure. its a one off made by Simpsons for Simpsons. _________________ By Dandan160808 with thanks & good luck |

I really have no idea, I was of the opinion that Simpsons had made it themselves? But I will find out who has made it. You see my friend worked for them for 40 years so I'll ask him. I have tried several times to ask various people in Simpsons who it is made by but never got a straight answer? All I know like everyone else Simpsons produce Barley etc but only one bottle was ever given to charity to sell and it's like it is a taboo subject to try and sell it. I've only seen one that was bottled in 2012 for Simpsons 150th Birthday as they started life in 1862 in Berwick upon tweed which is where I live. Two other people claim to have just the bottle on here? One states that theirs was bottled in 2011 and another guy states his was bottled in 1977? John Simpsons Secretary clearly Stated that it was Bottled in October 2012 for their 150th birthday celebrations. It all seems a mystery as to why Simpsons does not want anyone to sell this whisky as I think they assumed everyone of a tiny batch that were given out would never sell them in presentation form. As for the Value McTears put a minimum of £350 reserve but expected it to make a lot more. So all opinions and news on this whisky is welcome. _________________ By Dandan160808 with thanks & good luck |

Simpsons Malt is in Berwick-upon-Tweed therefore even if they had a distillery they could not produce a Highland malt. Sounds like it is a un-named Highland malt probably produced/bottled by one of Simpsons many customers to mark the 150th anniversary which is a pity as the name of the distillery will very much affect the bottles value. Your friend may know who bottled it for Simpsons but it will not make that much difference to it value if it doesnt say it on the label.
It is a hard one to put a value on, Simpsons is a very well known maltster and supply many distilleries and have doe for many years so it may attract bids from whisky geeks/collectors. It is a hard one to predict, just depends who turns up on the day of the auction. |

Dear all I need to sell this whisky pretty quickly for a good friend who worked for Simpsons. The Whisky was made by the Glenrothes Distillery. I said it was signed by John Simpson. It is actually the CEO Simon Simpson who signed this bottle. It is extremely rare and only one bottle was ever given to a charity to auction. There are no other bottles that have come to the open market _________________ By Dandan160808 with thanks & good luck |

Hi, have just had this bottle valued by the auctioneers & they have expressed that it will sell for £350-£400.
I am willing to accept £250 instead of going to auction which is one month away. I'll give you all the option to buy for £250 or any reasonable offer. Can collect or can send via courier. You can see before you buy and meet at any place if convenience. I live in Berwick.
