Duncan Taylor Auld Reekie 10 year old

I saw that Asda are selling Duncan Taylor Auld Reekie 10 year old, anyone tried it, any good?

Andy this is a superb big in your face sweet peaty whisky, if you like Ardbeg then you will like this.

I couldnt see Auld Reekie in my local Asda, it has been some time since i have had a bottle, not sure if Duncan Taylor are still bottling it. Anyway it is a big sweet peaty whisky and if you like the big peat monsters you should like this one.

Out of interest, how much are Asda selling it for?

Thanks Fergie and Mark, you have convinced me, i have ordered a couple of bottles using Asda's grocery delivery service. I am still not sure if it is a single malt or a blended malt, Duncan Taylors website has it listed in the blended Scotch whisky category were other sites list it as a single malt. Even the bottle and tube doesnt make it clear, it simply says Islay Malt. Either way it sounds good and it is only £20 in Asda and online whisky shops seem to me selling it for just under £40.

It is a single malt going by the whisky bible where it is scored at 90.5, there also appears to be a no expression which Jim Murray has scored at 95. Unfortunately it isnt listed in Asda online when i log in, pity as it sounds like it is a bargain.

Auld Reekie is one i havent tried, i would guess it originates from one of the big peaty southern Islay distilleries going by any tasting notes i have read on it. £20 is certainly a bargain price for it but unfortunately it isnt available from my local Asda store. Let us know what you think of it Andy, i would be interested in what your guess would be for which distillery it originates from.
